Fix Your Biggest Leak Faster - Here's How

If you’re putting in the hours…

Reviewing hands

Looking at solver outputs

Watching videos

…but your biggest leaks still aren’t getting fixed…

Then it’s not a knowledge problem.

👉 It’s a training problem

Watch the full breakdown:

Why your study isn’t working

Most players try to fix leaks like this:

  • Pull up a hand

  • Compare it to the solver

  • Maybe ask a friend

  • Maybe watch a video

And in the moment, it feels productive.

You’ve “seen the answer”.

But then the same spot comes up in-game…

And you still don’t trust your decision.

The real issue: studying vs training

This is the distinction that changes everything.

Studying = passive

  • looking at answers

  • consuming information

  • recognising spots

Training = active

  • making decisions

  • getting feedback

  • building the ability to solve the spot yourself

Most players are studying.

Very few are actually training.

Why nothing transfers in-game

You’ve probably seen the spot before.

But under pressure, your brain doesn’t go:

“Ah yes, solver says mix at 27% frequency”

It goes:

“I’m not sure…”

Because you didn’t train the decision.

You just looked at the answer.

It’s like checking the back of a maths textbook.

You might know what the answer is…

But that doesn’t mean you can solve the problem yourself.

The fix: a simple 4-step training process

This is the shift you need to make.

Step 1: Identify the leak

Not what feels difficult.

What’s actually costing you EV.

Best ways to do this:

  • database review

  • structured drills (find where EV is lost)

The goal:👉 Find the highest-impact problem

Step 2: Isolate the spot

This is where most players go wrong.

They try to fix:

  • an entire street

  • or multiple situations

Instead:

👉 Pick one specific node

Example:

  • facing a check-raise on the flop

Not:

  • “BTN vs BB strategy”

Step 3: Build the training environment

Solver outputs are often too complex.

So you simplify:

  • use 1–2 bet sizes

  • remove unnecessary options

  • focus on realistic decisions

Now you’re not training theory.

👉 You’re training decisions you’ll actually face

Step 4: Train the decision

This is the part that actually fixes the leak.

The process is simple:

Decision → Feedback → Repeat
  • Commit to your answer first

  • Then check the correct play

  • Then close the gap

Over and over again.

That’s what builds:

  • confidence

  • clarity

  • speed

Example (how this works in practice)

Let’s say you realise:

👉 You’re overfolding vs check-raises

Instead of reviewing random hands…

You isolate:

  • BTN vs BB

  • flop c-bet → facing check-raise

Then you train that exact spot:

  • make the decision

  • get feedback

  • repeat

Same node. Over and over.

That’s how the leak actually gets fixed.

What happens next (this is important)

Once you improve there…

You expand:

  • What happens after you call?

  • How do you play the turn?

And now you’re building something much bigger:

👉 A connected decision-making system

Find your biggest leak (and fix it properly)

If you’re not sure where you’re losing the most EV…

That’s exactly what I help players with.

We:

  • review your database

  • identify your highest-impact leaks

  • build a structured training plan to fix them

Final takeaway

If your study isn’t transferring in-game…

It’s not because you need more information.

It’s because you’re not training properly.

The shift is simple:

  • Identify the leak

  • Isolate the spot

  • Build the environment

  • Train the decision

That’s how you:

  • fix leaks faster

  • build confidence

  • and actually improve
